The Suburbs 8/17/83 “EQ’ed at Loring Park” Highlights 8-track tape

23 Sep

Most of my posts are music from cassettes- this one is from an 8-track tape.  Here are The Suburbs at their peak.

Thanks to Suburbs’ archivist Terry Katzman for allowing me to put these tracks up. Big thanks to Craig Godeke & Ron Perkins for providing photos from this show.

Hey, this is really great to discover. I still got a few slides of the band I shot from this show. Kids in the trees and stuff. What a great summer memory.
    Thanks

Oh, man, I was there. I was 16 years old, and it felt so hugely cool to be in Minneapolis listening to the coolest band at that time. What a great memory.

I was at this show when I was thirteen. Sitting on the stage. Before the show the band rolled through Loring Park in a piece of shit car, driving on the grass up to the stage. They backed in. Popped the trunk and began to throw six packs of beer into the crowd. Probably 10 cases of beer or maybe even 50. My sister caught one (she was 16) and handed it over to my dad who had taken us to the park to see The Lamont Cranston band who cancelled at the last minute and the Suburbs showed up. My dad was getting a little confused because he didn’t get the memo and the crowd was filling up before the show with a bunch of punkers with purple Mohawks and spike leather jackets.. It is amazing that these pics are on the internet for me to look at now, knowing I was there.
