THE STONE FACES- the elusive photos & tapes East Side of St Paul hard rock pioneers.

12 Feb

Not too often do I uncover some mid-1970s Footstompin’ Music like this. Thanks to guitarist Gary Narducci, a REAL East Side Italian, for saving this stuff and allowing me to present it to you. The Stone Faces liked to play the East Side and the St. Croix Valley, with lots of stops at The Lamb’s Club on East 7th, The 9R Ranch in Wisconsin, & The RollingStone on Cottage Grove. Covers AND originals were the order of the day. The originals remind me of The James Gang or Blue Oyster Cult. ENJOY!

Kevin of The HE-TOO’S stopped by today.

17 Nov

THE HE-TOO’S were from The East Side of St Paul; they morphed into the legendary Free and Easy Band. They released a 45 in 1967. Kevin stopped in GoJohnnyGo Records in White Bear Lake today, sold me some records and a record player. Jim Larkin ended up in The Stillroven, Tom Behr manages Free and Easy these days. Tony “Fatty” Tuccitto passed away last year, Bob Behr was a ruffian.

Thanks to MinnePaulMusic for the photo, and to Kevin Heinz for the autograph.

20 Oct

397907_234422859974251_2119448228_n800101ReactorsThe first punk rock band from the East Side of St. Paul. How cool is this for a High School concert? If you went to Harding, check this little gem out, or even if you didn’t……BIG THANKS to Mike Phillips (guitarist and leader) for allowing me to present stuff from the band that changed my life. (LISTEN AT THE LINK BELOW- WARNING: PROFANITY)

Mike Phillips – guitar
Jimmy Wallin– bass
John Ohr- lead vocals
Steve Nelsen– drums
Roger DeBace– guitar

Mike went on to play in Sonny Vincent & The Extreme. Jimmy and Roger went on to speed things up with Willful Neglect. Steve Nelsen played drums in Shatterproof (MCA Records), The Sedgwicks, and many others.
