Minnesota Historical Society / Université De Moncton Male Choir ‘The Voyageurs and Their Songs’LP, 1966

29 Aug

It kinda blows my mind that there were Frenchmen canoeing around central North America almost 200 years before The USA was created, and way more than 200 years before Canada! AND– they sung as they paddled. Here are their songs; of course this album ends with a rousing rendition of “Alouette”. Any record that has a map inside that includes a 1000-mile canoe trip route to help tell the story always wins with me.
